My family:
My grandparents are the late Edison Allison and Agnes Allison from Upper Santan. My father Edward Allison (ba at). Army Veteran 82nd Airborne. My mother is Lupe, who I am privileged to enjoy her company! My husband is Victor Antone who I share 3 daughters, 3 sons & 14 grandchildren. Additionally, I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. And like every member of GRIC, more extended family than room to write! I am proud to live in district 3 and have served our community for more than 30 years in elected, staff, and advocacy roles.
My education:
Masters Professional Studies- Indigenous Peoples Law at University of Arizona, I have a Bachelors in political science and government from Grand Canyon University with a focus on indigenous governance and policy. While I am fortunate to have studied academically, the greatest lessons have come from elders and mentors along the way.
My work:
Spanning more than 30 years, I have impacted major projects and initiatives in almost every department. I have brokered funding for housing, state of the art healthcare facilities to reduce health disparities, and have served a firm role on Arizona and the Nation's MMIP taskforces. I am highly networked with tribes across the nation, national taskforces, and in Washington D.C. I know how to get the job done right. It starts by showing up! Included in my time serving GRIC, I served four years as the former Lt. Governor of the Gila River Indian Community, where I worked with tribal leaders, federal agencies, and local stakeholders to advance the interests and rights of our people. I recently brokered bi-partisan legislation in response to the Emily Pike tragedy. Too many of our children disappear into the system without transparency into group home track records. GRIC families deserve to know where their children & grandchildren are AND that they are safe. I took this on as a private citizen, imagine what we can accomplish once I am elected!
